This is kind of a refresher on my “delusional” belief system. It’s a long one. Also, I started another site at http://https://wordpress.com/home/thetruthmatters735421219.wordpress.com but stopped after only five or so posts because no one was visiting. But if you want to check it out, be my guest; but my intention is to return to this site. Anyway, back to the topic at hand.
No one believes me, but in 1997 I had an encounter with Satan. I came away from that encounter convinced I was the antichrist. I know, most people don’t believe in Satan anymore. For a long time, I didn’t. But ever since March 1997 I’ve alternated between believing and not up until about 2010, after which I’ve pretty consistently believed he was real. So, what is Satan?
Okay, okay, before I get to that, don’t take my word as gospel (not that anybody would). One thing I am absolutely certain of is that I am NOT omniscient (and that constitutes an absolute truth). I am also sure that I am a sinner, a particularly bad sinner (my heart is a sewer of lust, anger, and arrogance among other things). What I’m about to tell you about Satan may make me sound like a super-Christian. But I’m not. I’m the antichrist, for better or worse. I started out Catholic, fell away, converted to Platonism, was significantly influenced by Existentialism, and then had my encounter with Satan. Am I 100% sure of what I believe about Satan? No. But I’m about 99%. I still have a shadow of doubt that gives me pause. In light of that, I defer to Jesus. If I tell you something, and Jesus disagrees, follow Jesus, not me. But I’m convinced that Jesus, alone, knew the truth about Satan until I figured it out as well. At least, that’s the theory.
So, what is Satan? In short, the universe. Have you ever heard the expression “The Devil can lie and tell the truth at the same time?” I heard that somewhere along the way. Compare that statement to the yin and yang symbol. They seem uncomfortably similar. What is the yin and yang symbol representative of? The unification of opposites in nature. Or, the founding principle of the universe. Jesus described Satan as “The Ruler of this World.” Does World mean Earth? Or does it mean cosmos? I’m inclined to think it means cosmos in this context. Further, the Ruler of this World also seems to resonate with death. After all, what rules the cosmos but death? Even the mightiest stars and galaxies will one day die. I guess it’s possible somewhere out there there is an immortal being, but I find it unlikely. Death is Satan’s power. Death rules the universe. And Jesus defeated death.
What can you take away from this? Satan, as the guiding force of the universe, can manifest in many ways. He can take any form he pleases. I don’t just mean an incredibly gorgeous woman who would put Angelina Jolie in her prime to shame. I mean, let’s say, Apollo. Zeus. Athena. Odin. Thor. Or for that matter, Vishnu, Brahma, Shiva … shall I continue? I know it’s insulting to everyone to say that Satan is the preternatural force for the “supernatural” aspects of all of man’s religions, but I am 99% convinced it is true. The real God is a transcendental being that exists above and beyond the universe, Whose belief in free will is so strong He won’t use force to bend Satan to His will, which He surely could do. He let Satan do as he wanted, that is, vainly try to dethrone God using us as the coins of a wager. Basically, Satan was convinced that we would never figure him out. Remember, he’s arrogant (so am I–the antichrist–but that’s another discussion). But Jesus did, gave him the metaphorical finger for all of us, and paid the price for it willingly. What makes more sense? Jesus was crucified to pay for everyone else’s sins to appease an angry God who refuses to forgive anyone without first exacting a terrible punishment? Or, Jesus was crucified by Satan for refusing to kneel to him in the desert three years earlier. Jesus had a choice between supplication and terrible torture and death. He chose the torture and death, taking Satan’s worst because He was the only one who could. And in so doing, He won His victory.
I differ from most Christians because I am convinced that the God of the Old Testament is Satan in disguise, just as he disguised himself as Thor, and Odin, and Quetzacoatl and everyone else. The New Testament consists of Jesus putting His voice over Satan’s. I mean, really, the traditional God of the Bible seems to promulgate prophecies for the purpose of proving he’s smarter than everyone else. Who would you think would want to prove he’s smarter than you? God? Or Satan? God just is smarter than everybody–He’s omniscient. He’s got nothing to prove to anyone. Satan is arrogant, and apparently, a little insecure. Not to mention cowardly, cruel, and thoroughly evil.
My problem is that once I identified Satan as the yin and yang, I started seeing unified opposites (Satan) everywhere. Like, the Dance of Shiva that sustains the whole cosmos through a never-ending process of Creation and Destruction (Creation and Destruction? Yin and yang anyone?) And since we are on the topic of Shiva, who does the expression “I am become Death, Destroyer of Worlds” sound like: God? Or Satan? Particularly if Satan’s ultimate power is death or death is his power … a point made in the New Testament somewhere (Is it Hebrews?). I recently watched a YouTube video where a Christian visited hell and saw a number of damned sinners in the Lake of Fire with big wide-open eyes. He was informed that their eyes were wide open because they had been given eyes by God so they could see heaven. So, from my perspective I have two more opposites: hell and heaven. Does God hate these sinners so much that He is inflicting the agony of the Lake of Fire upon them at the same time that He is showing them heaven from a distance in order to remind them of what they’ve lost? So, He is torturing them even more? Or, is it Satan that is torturing them thusly? I tend to think the one responsible is Satan. Because if God is doing it, I don’t think I want anything to do with God.
So, to sum up, Satan is the god of opposites (yin and yang, lies and truth, creation and destruction, heaven and hell, etc…) that is the first building block of this universe. If you are wondering why heaven is in here, I suspect it’s really a pseudo-heaven which us poor mortals can’t really distinguish from the real Heaven.
I could go on and on about this. If you are interested, I wrote a book about this about fifteen years ago called “Delusions of Grandeur.” It’s available at Smashwords for free (currently). And, for the record, I have been diagnosed schizoaffective because of this stuff. Also, I realize it’s insulting to basically every religion on the planet but I don’t know what else to do except talk about it. Also, since my premise is that I’m the antichrist and, therefore, the last person anyone should trust in these matters do me a favor, and DO NOT believe me UNLESS Jesus of Nazareth Himself backs me up in the matter!
